facts • Has a huge collection of 70's/80's funk and classic soul. Will belt anything Earth Wind and Fire for anyone who asks with zero shame. It's a common choice for music in his classes, too.
• Has a turntable that he worships. It's an antique, one that his mom has had since she was young and it still works.
• Despite a career in fitness, he hates the idea of depriving himself of what he wants and won't hold himself back when he wants to eat/drink something not so healthy.
• Physically expressive in that he conveys his emotions through touch. Has no concept of personal space, but he's getting better at reading body and social cues.
• When he was a kid, someone asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up and to his mother's horror, he told them a Safeway cashier.

Daniel Conrad had a firm grasp of how his life would unfold even at a young age. From a long line of engineers through generations, he was encouraged to follow in their footsteps and pursue an education in the same field. He seemed the most likely to succeed among his siblings as the oldest and the most gifted academically, but Daniel would never claim that was where his passions lied. Still, he continued along the path that was paved for him with his parents fortune to shield him from the financial struggles most students experience when the universities demand what is owed.

The majority of his relatives had attended Stanford University through the years: his grandfather, father, aunt and uncle were all alumni who ultimately found a cushy life for themselves at the top of their fields. All through his childhood, he and his family could be found at the university for all the home football games, and especially the Big Game against Cal. Daniel was bred to be a cardinal. Thus, it was no surprise when his acceptance arrived in the mail one spring afternoon and he emphatically accepted, enrolling for the fall term of his freshman year.

Daniel wasted no time declaring and diving into his major of electrical engineering. He had taken apart and reassembled nearly anything in his possession that could be and it prepared him for many of his core classes. Yet, he found his favorites were often part of the curriculum for his computer science minor over his engineering courses. During his sophomore year, he spent a semester interning at Microsoft in the software development department where he vastly expanded his knowledge. With an excellent reference in place, he returned to Stanford the following fall with a newfound excitement. He perservered and walked away with his bachelors promptly four year later.

He sought out internships all over the west coast, not feeling particularly adventurous to venture far from the coast line, and was fortunate enough to make a connection with his former mentor at Microsoft who helped him snag a position as an entry level software engineer. The corporate culture of Microsoft is a large part of why he was able to stay with the company as long as he did -- eight years -- but during that time, his stress levels were astronomical.

Working for a major corporation was a double edged sword; he was extremely well compensated and taken care of as an employee, but sharp deadlines and demands from his supervisors left him without an ounce of energy when he eventually returned home -- hours after he reached the eight hour mark. He felt himself withering away with the passing years, and he began to wonder what he had done for himself in this life, in an event not to disappoint his father.

During college, he had worked in the athletic department as an assistant to one of the trainers and had discovered an interest in both fitness and nutrition. At the time, he wasn't sporting much muscle and was more lanky than other men his age, always being told 'you'll fill in eventually'. After his experiences in the department and his own investment in his personal health, it was only a matter of time before his body morphed into something that was earning him some attention. However, since taking the job with Microsoft, his muscle mass had decreased significantly and he was facing a similar lanky fate if the trends continued. This, among many other reasons, motivated him to make a change.

He had acquired a decent sum in his savings account through his years with the corporation which would be the final push he needed to reclaim his life. He quit his job, and with this new life, he needed a new location. Not San Carlos, not Seattle, somewhere new. That line of thinking is what landed him in Chicago, Illinois. His closest brother, Scott, was attending college in the city and had enticed him easily with a passing suggestion. He moved there and sought certifications and further education to make his dream become a reality, and by the following year, he was sporting the title of Daniel Conrad, NSCA-CPT.
